Academy Fall Camp

Five times a year, the sports halls of the Comenius and Cecilien Gymnasium in Oberkassel and the Max Planck Gymnasium in Stockum open their doors and invite people to the basketball camps, which are now well-known far beyond the borders of Düsseldorf and are organized by the Düsseldorf basketball club Dynamic Squad. For over ten years now, both beginners who want to get a serious taste of the sport and advanced players who want to improve their skills have found a motivating and qualified environment here.

GET UP AND GET IT ON

For five days, the kids aged 7 to 17 leave their smartphones lying unattended in their pockets. From ten in the morning until five in the afternoon, they spend their time dribbling, passing and throwing. The qualified coaches divide their charges into groups according to their ability and then concentrate on refining their technique, coordination and athleticism.

LET'S PLAY BALL

Put on your jerseys and off you go. Team training alternates with individual training. Some get valuable tips from the coaches to improve their game. But despite all the seriousness, no one should imagine the camp as a tough training camp. One thing is at the forefront of everything: having fun playing basketball and having fun in the group. Even the 2-meter boys like to be picked up by the kids. We always see good discipline from the kids and great team spirit.

At the end of the camp, the campers head out onto the court where heroes are born. In competitions, camp participants can show what they can do. There are great prizes to be won for the winners of 2-ball, 3-point shooting, 1 vs. 1 or skills challenge. The coaches honor the best kids from the camp, for example the MIP (Most Improved Player) or the "Next Supercamper" are chosen. The highlight of the last day in some camps are the Players vs. Coaches games. The trainers, who often come from abroad, ensure a good mood and spectacular moments with thunderous dunks and alley-oops.

A Day at the Academy Camp

10:00 a.m.: Meeting point moved to the sports hall at the Comenius-Gymnasium, Lütticher Straße 34 (for the older campers Max-Planck-Gymnasium, Koetschaustr. 36), division into groups.

It is recommended that you arrive at least fifteen minutes early (on the first day, half an hour for registration). You can change in the changing rooms or simply in the stands.

10:30-12:00: Training

12:00-13:30: Lunch and break.

1:30-3:00 pm: Contests

3:00-5:00 pm: Training

5:00 pm: End of camp
